The location of the Throat Chakra (called Vishuddha in Sanskrit it means to “purify”) is located at the center of the neck at the level of the throat, it is the passage of the energy between the lower parts of the body and the head. The function of the Throat Chakra is driven by the principle of expression and communication.
When your fifth chakra is balanced (or awake – as some say) and open you have the ability to express your authentic truth while listening to others for the truth behind their words. It also acts as a bridge between your head and your heart and gives you the ability to speak your truth with love. Because of its location, it’s often seen as the “logjam” of the progress of energy in the body. It sits just before the upper chakra of the head. Opening the Throat Chakra can help align your ideas with reality and release pressure that may involve the heart chakra that is located just below.
A person with a repressed fifth chakra may experience difficulties expressing themselves, making meaningful interactions or communications with mixed messages making it difficult for others to know your real truth. Your heart and brain are in constant communication with each other. Everything that they communicate with each other goes through the throat.
